LANGUAGES
COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH
Mistakes are a normal and necessary part of language learning.
The communicative approach in teaching and language assimilation, known as the communicative approach, demonstrates the importance of learning a foreign language through communication. This way, learning a new language gets easier and more enjoyable, while touching truly significant subjects according to the needs of each student.
The teaching method is based on the fact that a language is more than mastering grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation rules. Students must be able to use language appropriately in a business or social context. Grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary represent really the basis of any effective communication, but the difference lies in the approach method.
The traditional method consists in teaching the rules to be implemented through a set of exercises. The communicative approach is a modern method incorporating the four linguistic competences - grammar, speech, social-linguistic and strategic competence. Unlike the previous method, which teaches the students mainly the grammatical rules, the communicative approach method puts emphasis on the interaction in the target language, on the basis of actual topics and on the determination of language learning outside the course room.
Bearing in mind that this method of teaching is geared individually towards each student, the used materials and techniques may vary, thus making the learning process more interesting. Any activity that involves a genuine communication represents an advantage for anyone who wants to speak a foreign language.
